Google Maps was the default mapping service on iOS previously. Google Maps occupied pride of place on the first page of apps in iOS. Later, Apple decided to get into the game with Apple Maps. Apple Maps does seem to work rather well in US. But in other countries they severely lacks detail. You have multiple choices of maps on your latest iOS device. Google Maps remains as one of the best options for the maps. Google Maps now include turn-by-turn navigation, live traffic and voice guidance. It can be cached for offline use as well. Here Maps by Nokia is another alternative, but it does not offer any offline navigation. If you look for further more navigation maps, try the free community-based Waze app where it offers real time traffic, voice guided navigation and the maps are constantly updated by the community users.
